As an artist in residence at Palm Heights, I first came to the island to seed ideas for my choreography by using Caymanian cultural influences to manifest Black, Islander, and African narratives through dance. As an extension of that work, I continued my work by reaching out to schools on the island to help champion the talent and expose the kids to my teaching style and network that they may not have had access to otherwise. With the help of the Palm Heights team, we created Caribbean Connections to extend our classes to other mediums. Most recently our program included Ballet, modern dance, and architecture. We hope to hit more bases very soon!
